Thank you so much Smooch. I was told that Bazadais pass their traits on.

Another calf this morning.

We didn't get the rain they predicted yesterday.

Jeez its hot. I walked down to pilates in the cool, then rolled under the fence to take the hyacinth out of the dam.

I studied the calf in front of me and thought - there is another Brody, and looked at Mum to see who she was. Pearl, nope Pearl just had a calf weaned. This is Pearls first calf. Pearlette. The ones that have been born here are just so calm that they don't care if we are near them with a calf.

I realised how hot it was walking up to the house to get the camera. I walked back down again, as excitement doesn't care about how hot it is. I found her, she had moved and she did not care about me taking photos. She didn't take it away, or threaten me at all. She just kept grazing.

There are a few more that are pregnant to Brody. Plus the 12 that we weaned a month ago should also be pregnant to him again, if not very soon.

He is going to be put up for sale. I have made a deal with a friend and he is going to bring his 100% bazadais here. Brody will be good for anyone who would like to get into Bazadais with out paying the full price for a 100% bazadais bull. Brody looks like a bazadis but he does have droughtmaster in him if anyone is interested. I haven't advertised him yet.

Awww thanks guys.

I saw a calf with 2 of our heifers that have been in with the bull for a while. I wasn't close enough to see if the calf belonged to one of them, but I suspect not and is one of the ones I have already put up. I will keep a closer eye though.

Thanks Smooch. I saw her yesterday and she is looking so much bigger!!!

I noticed 3 calves on Sunday Morning!!!

I think Mum is Harriot. I will have to get closer to see if she is Harriot or Harriot's Calf.

Here is Lyssy's calf.

Generally a sick calf lays flat out and a healthy calf sleeps curled up.

So my hopes are up. I put her on to drink yesterday morning and she drank for over half an hour and from all four teats.

I tried again yesterday afternoon, but she was not interested and Mum's teats were still soft, which they also appeared this morning, so I can only hope she is drinking enough by herself.

Well one thing Brody does is throw colour!!! :Belly Laugh:

Here he is. He has grown up a bit. He is looking blacker

Here is Opal who has just become a grandmother. She had white on her udder and white on the tip of her tail. The guy who picked her out for us to buy loves her. He thinks she has the best conformation.

Posted Image

Here is Outbreak. So named because it was when the EI Outbreak hit Australia. Next doors bull who is Charbray. She is Opal's daughter and has just become a Mum.

Posted Image

and here is Outbreak's calf, seen first this morning. Brody being the Dad.

Marlon's Calf and Newborn. 24.4.10.

Jappy I have quite a few without names.

I called the one with white knees. Knobbly short for Knobbly Knees. Hahahaha

and I called the coloured one Mosaic.

I still don't know if they are girls or boys yet. I will pick out one I want to keep to call Jappy.

This one I called Cubic. As I looked up Diamond and it was described as a cubic. So that means that Diamonds last 3 calves where Chip for Diamond Chip. Hope for the Hope Diamond and now Cubic. LOL I might call her next one Zirconia!!!

Diamond was the first Wife of Brody to have his calf, so now we are into his second season of calves.

Here is Diamond with Cubic looking at Brody.

Please accept my apology. I forgot to tell you that Helga calved at the same time as Marlon's Calf. This is Helga's first calf. Helga was born here, but not from one of our bulls.

I am waiting Jappy for a girl I love without horns. Probably from Ridge or Tux. As they won't be sold.

Not a good photo.

This one was born on my Birthday. Hubby's sister sometimes calls me Suzie Quesy. So I have called this one Quesy.

Pam's Mum is the mother. She is a droughtmaster. Brody is the Dad.

Yay I was having a problem with my camera. Which is why the last photo of the new calf was so light. I finally noticed a smear on the lens and cleaned it off and the camera was much happier.

Darn - Pearl has calved. She throws lovely calves and ones without horns, however she is too protective and I had her on the cull list. She threatened me twice when I was down there. I was giving out round bales, surrounded by the other cattle and she could have left if she wanted to. She may have given herself 6 months now. She has not passed this trait onto her calves so that is a good thing, but we will have to watch her for the next 6 months now. Even when her calf has been weaned for 6 months and is in the yard!!!

I didn't crop this photo, you can see hubby on Davey bringing down one of our round bales.

I forgot to put a couple up.

I found the photos. I am afraid they are not very good ones, but are the only ones I have. You can see their placentas.
